Beginning internship journal- Week One

So, I now have a blog, I am so tech savy :) This blog is going to be the spot where I record stuff about my internship. So far it's been a pretty good internship, I've been assigned to work on Irreantum, a Mormon literary journal. I'm on the copyediting team. I also get to do a variety of odd jobs. I've gotten to edit one interview transcript already. I really enjoyed that, my first "official"editing assignment. It was pretty intense because I ended up having to do that all in one day. James helped me out, as he always does, by installing the newest version of Word on my computer. It now allows me to track changes and compare documents, which makes editing much more simple. It makes it easy to see the changes I make and saved me a lot of time when Laraine (my supervisor) asked me to bracket all of the words I'd inserted. Tuesday I met Laraine and Alexis and talked over the things that need to be done. I'm sure it will be good for Laraine to have two interns, but it was easier for me when it was just me. Now we always have to divide up assignments. Laraine just sends an email saying, "Will one of you do this?" So then we have to email back and forth to make sure that it gets done and that we both have a chance to get experience. I'm also a little worried that one of us is going to end up with all the cool jobs and the other all the grunt work, but so far it seems to be ok. No new editing assignments; Laraine had us email several publishing companies to offer them advertising opportunities in the next several issues of Irreantum. That's about it for the first week.
